For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.
(2 Corinthians 10:3-6 ESV)

With God we shall do valiantly;
it is he who will tread down our foes.
(Psalm 108:13 ESV)

Spiritual battles are fought in the spiritual realm. These battles are waged through prayer. We must not  continue  to try to fight spiritual darkness by our own human effort. Our ultimate struggle is not with people, but with spiritual beings in the spiritual realm. (Eph.6:12) These demonic forces, our own fallen natures, and taking on the values of the world create internal strongholds.

Strongholds of the mind are only torn down through divinely powerful weapons, which are, God’s truth and prayer. The truth of God’s word renews our minds and transforms our thinking. Disciples of Jesus have been given authority over demonic spirits (Lk. 10). Those that will experience victory in this fight will see it accomplished through the prayers of the saints (followers of Jesus) and at times taking authority over darkness through verbal commands.

Sustained consistent prayer is the need of the hour. We need to stand as intercessors for those who are unable to spiritually stand for themselves. We must learn to pray for and encourage each other daily. Satan seeks to wear out the believer. He is a liar and thief. His plan is to literally wear us down and discourage us with bad news. But take heart, Jesus has overcome the world and so shall we. So, fear not! If you are in the Kingdom, you are on the winning side.

I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name’s sake, and you have not grown weary.
(Revelation 2:3 ESV)

…praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
(Ephesians 6:18 ESV)

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
(1 John 5:4-5 ESV)
